FRANKFURT AM MAIN

Exciting contrasts between
banking district and village charm –

Nestled where the Taunus mountain range and the banks of the Main River meet, Frankfurt has a spacious grandeur that’s virtually unrivalled among German cities. This is mainly due to the famous and ever-expanding skyline of the financial metropolis. However, a few streets away from the banking district, Frankfurt reveals its village charm. Whether you’re heading for a rustic cider pub or an exclusive cocktail bar: like the city itself, Frankfurt’s nightlife is brimming with exciting contrasts. During the day, sights such as Römerberg square, the City Hall, and Frankfurt Imperial Cathedral draw visitors from all over the world. However, Frankfurt enjoys real global renown as the city that holds the headquarters of the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and numerous other financial institutions. The city is also an important centre of industry, service, and trade fairs, an important transport hub in Europe, and home to seven universities. Last but not least, it delights lovers of culture with a wide range of excellent theatres, concert halls, and museums!

BORNHEIM

Urban yet cosy –
Frankfurt’s most popular district

Bornheim is highly popular among the locals. Small wonder, with the district demonstrating a special mix of cosiness and urbanity. Life is good here – with excellent links to the metropolis and a unique flair. However, Bornheim has real sights of its own to offer as well. It is renowned for its baroque city hall, St. John’s Church with its onion-shaped dome, and its half-timbered houses. With plenty of restaurants, bars, and apple cider pubs, it is something of a magnet for festive crowds of all ages as well. And
Bornheim knows how to celebrate festivals: it owes its nickname of “the merry village” to its many celebrations. Berger Straße is the lifeline of the district, and the longest shopping street in the city. A farmer’s market is held here twice a week. Günthersburg Park is the green lung of Bornheim. With its expansive lawns and cosy paths, it is a popular venue for all the locals.
